Jerry Maryniuk

Jerry is a retired forensic artist, having served 26 yrs with the Wpg Police Service. He has done a 180 degree turn from sketching criminals and reconstructing skulls! "When I left the WPS, I knew I would continue with my art. However, after freelancing as a forensic artist, I realized I needed a change. I decided it had to be "fun". That's when I began cartooning and authored a book called SNOWBIRD SKETCHES. The book of cartoons laughs a getting old". Influenced by a snowbird lifestyle in Az, he became interested in growing gourds and turning them into art. His favourites are the Thunder Gourds. Sculpting with clay has been rewarding as well. Creating theme trolls has been an adventure too. Currently, he is working on a book called THE RUSTY YEARS (not the Golden Years). The cartoons are about challenges with aging. It also looks at small town Manitoba.
Recently, Jerry has been very active in the mental health area. "I cofounded the WPS PTSD Peer Support group. We ran a fundraiser for Wounded Warriors Canada, and I donated my art to this cause. Over the years, I have learned that art can be a big part of ones therapy". His mantra continues to be "Live your life with a sense of humour and never waste a day"
